David took me and my new head of hair out to dinner and let me tell you we had a blast. This was our first night out ever without Austin and I think we would have enjoyed even going to Burger King for a bite to eat. But we didn't go to Burger King, we went here. And we didn't have to worry about Austin one bit because he was home with Tracey and Henry and I bet he barely noticed we were gone. I do have to say I have not verified this last statement with Tracey, but I hope it is true.
Our dining experience can be summed up in one word, amazing. Everything was good, starting from the House-Marinated Olives and ending with the salty Hazelnut and Chocolate treats the chef threw in at the end for free. I think he was amazed that we didn't spill anything and that we managed to keep our napkins on our laps almost the whole time we were seated, so he rewarded our good behavior with some fine, fine chocolate. "Why would this be amazing?", you all might be thinking. If any of you know our parents, you would know that we were raised to at least recognize good manners in other people, if not actually use good manners at appropriate times ourselves. The reason that Chris the Chef might not know this about us is that the place we used to see him recquired us to be dirty and more or less hasty in our manners. Yes, that's right, we know him from the Farmer's Market, a place that seems far off in both time and space. Neither David nor I have the time to work at the Market anymore and we miss seeing nice people such as Chris on a regular basis.
I am sure that Incanto has been written up numerous times to rave reviews but I am not so sure that anybody has ever pointed out how well-lit the bathrooms are, which is important if you are stuffing people full of hand cured meats and imported cheeses. If a person looks all red and bloated in the bathroom mirror, chances of them ordering more food are pretty slim. But if you look at yourself through the softly glowing lights and straight into the slightly bloodshot whites of your eyes and think, "Looking good!", I bet you will order dessert.
And if things could not get any better, we also saw my most very favorite cheesemaker in all the world sitting across the room. What a nice birthday after all. Thank you David! I do love you very much.
