Yesterday Austin and I finally made it back to the farmer's market. For the past month or two colds, birthday parties and lack of funds have kept us away.

Fortunately for us, and for the large homeless planet masquerading as a head of cauliflower, we made it back. Austin spotted this freak of vegetable-ness from a least 15 feet away. He ran over to the cauliflower pile at Dirty Girl Farm and grabbed this...thing. It was indeed cauliflower by appearance, but the fact that it was wider and longer than my son's head made me suspect we had just found the 14th planet of our solar system hanging out with some cool organic produce, you know, just for kicks.

After paying approximately 17 bucks for the thing, I found that it fit in no bag, either my own or the farm's. I carried it home holding the thing in my arms like a slighty knobby newborn. Austin carried a stick he had found on the side of the road, shooting imaginary letter A's at all the people passing us by. Ocassionally he would shoot an M at somebody, "Just for you, Mommy!".

He shot nothing at Anthony Bourdain, who was reported to be hanging about the same farmer's market we were.

The cauliflower did not cry even one time the whole way home.
