Would you just look at that beautiful boy! After looking at this picture I can almost forgive Austin for turning our bedroom into the secondary sandbox, where all the excess sand from the big public sandbox gets stored until some future sand emergency hits the neighborhood. It never hurts to be prepared.

I do not think there was one single cloud in the sky all day. It was blue and sunny, which we like, but because of the sun Austin needs to wear a hat, which he does not like. Today we compromised by staying in the shady part of the playground.

I was checking out other children's hats and the options do not seem so good. There were two boys who were even fairer than Austin and they had on these huge, felt-like floppy hats that were long in the back, kind of like a hat mullet. These hats had good coverage, but were so floppy that the boys could not see very well. And also you could tell they felt stupid. Our little friend Chloe had a cute sort of triangle shaped hat which hat a lot of butterflies and flowers sewn on it, but she's a girl and can get away with such things. Now Tommy had this khaki colored, cotton cowboy hat, which looked great on him but I don't know if Austin has the character to pull off such an accessory. Apparently they are on sale at Gymboree, so maybe I'll give the cotton Ranchero look a try.

I have a job interview tomorrow, which I can go to because Austin has the most helpful, brave, beautiful Godmama a boy could want. Yay Susie!
