It's raining today. It's not just raining, it's cold, slanty, cloudy rain and I am going to blame it for the bad mood that seemed to permeate both David and I this morning. We actually spent ten minutes arguing about who was going to get to sleep for five more minutes. What kind of craziness is that? The worst thing is that Austin definitely picked up on the lousy mood hanging around our bedroom and became very cranky. Hopefully time spent at his daycare today will erase any bad feelings he's having.

I am going on Day Three of the Chocolate Fest, which may have something to do with my less than perfect mood. Ah, chocolate...it can be so good and so bad at the same time.

Here is an unofficial version of the yearly Trieste Family Picture. I am not sure about why all these families love Trieste as much as we do, but they do. And I think they come from all over, not just the neighborhood. I wonder if they know how weird Trieste gets at night. Not weird like drag queens but weird like eccentric homeless millionaires drinking white wine spritzers in the rain and Mongolian artists painting little watercolors while drinking simultaneously from two bottles of Guinness. Maybe they know. Maybe once upon a time one or two of these parents were the drag queens (I may have not seen one there but I am sure this cafe has been graced with at least a couple over the years) or eccentric drunks. Maybe they have spent a winter evening at Trieste filling out Christmas cards way before marriage or children had ever occured to them. Who knows.

David is going to try to get Austin to sleep in his crib tonight while I am out serving cheese to the greater San Francisco area. Wish him luck.
