David is scratching his butt right now, getting ready to begin one of his late night study sessions. He seems to do that when he starts to get serious about what ever it is he's about to do. I wonder if he does it out in the public? More importantly, will our little Choogler do it at school, when he finally starts going to school...and will I have to explain to his teacher that he learned this particular habit from his dad? I wonder what kind of bad habits (if any) he will pick up from me, or the cats. Oh good lord, what will he learn from the cats? Let me see, he could learn vomiting, hissing and binge eating. Perhaps he might also learn how to dig in the sand. We do have such clever cats.

One thing I hope Austin does not learn from me is how to cook a pot roast. That poor piece of meat, I think I boiled away every ounce of dignity it came with, which is not much, considering it was encased in plastic. Our dinner came out dry and gross, but Austin didn't mind once I mixed it with applesauce. Such are the epicurian golden days of early childhood dinners. Yes, I had some, too and I would have some again if it meant I got to eat dinner with Austin.

Hi
RE the pot roast. Don't boil it -- just put it in the oven (covered) at about 275 or 300 and leave it all day. When you begin, the liquid should be just about covering the meat.
love you,
Mom :-)
