A story as told by Austin (sort of) to the drunk school teacher lady who hangs out at Trieste about a mouse.

Setting: 3rd Annual Panopticon. What, you don't know what that is? Do you live under a rock? Actually, if you lived under a rock this would be the one art show in the whole world that you would know about, because some of your under rock living neighbors would be participating. In general terms, this particular show is made up of old people who have enjoyed being Bohemians for many many, years. Some of them make good art. Some of them make bad art. Some of them are Matt Gonzalez and Lawerence Ferlinghetti for whom it does not matter if the art is good or bad. Matt Gonzalez is too young to have ever been a bohemian. But somehow he is always in this show. Mery Bernard is also too young to be a bohemian, but she is raising her daughter at Caffe Trieste, which makes her an honorary boho. Which I for one, think is really the only way to live.

Anyways. on to the story.

Drunk Lady: Hi Austin!

Austin: I saw a mouse!

Drunk Lady: Surprised, as Austin usually never talks to her. Don't blame him.

Austin: There is a mouse in the floor!

Drunk Lady: Here?

Austin: No, over there. He is peeking out of his hole.

Drunk Lady: What color is he?

Austin: Gray.

Drunk Lady: Some mice are brown.

Austin: Oh!

And that's it, folks. They just walked away from each other as best they could, Drunk Lady weaving slightly through the crowd, Austin gesturing for me to pick him up, as he does not walk at such events, he is carried.

As a teacher, I can vouch for that woman... she probably needed that MD 20/20.
